600mm is the standard alcove-ish width and the width most small-flat furniture settles on. Two things to check before you buy at this size: the skirting board, which pushes a unit 15–25mm off the wall and is the usual reason a 600mm alcove won't take a 600mm unit, and the door swing, because a 600mm wardrobe door needs 600mm of clear floor in front of it.
