Bookcases and Ladder Shelves
Narrow bookcases at 600, 700 and 800mm wide, and leaning ladder shelves where you want the wall to stay visible.
Books are much heavier than people expect — a metre of paperbacks is roughly 20kg — so check the stated shelf load, put the heavy things low, and don't span more than the design allows without a centre support. A bowed shelf is almost always an overloaded shelf.
Ladder shelves lean, which means they need a flat wall and a skirting spacer, and they are not the right choice in a home with a climbing toddler. A tall bookcase against a wall wants strapping for the same reason a chest does.
