Fold Down Beds and Desks

Single fold-down bed cabinets, bed-and-desk combinations, guest beds with shelving above, and fold-down dining tables that become a sideboard.

These are the pieces that change a studio, and they are also the pieces with the most conditions attached. Every one is wall fixed, and we say so: the mechanism carries real load into the wall, so the fixing has to suit the wall construction — masonry, stud, or dot-and-dab, which is the one that catches people out. If you rent, get written permission first; if you're not certain what your wall is made of, have a competent person fit it.

Also check the swing: a fold-down bed needs its full length of clear floor in front of it, and that floor can't be where the door opens.
