Nook & Nest sells furniture for small British homes — studio flats, one-beds, flat shares, box rooms, loft conversions and hallways that were never really meant to hold anything.
Almost everything here is under 800mm wide. That is not a gimmick; it is the constraint the whole catalogue is built around, because it is the constraint most people in a UK flat are actually working to.
Three things we do differently
1. We say whether it needs a drill
Every product page carries one of three labels: freestanding, no drilling needed, or wall fixed, and we say so. You can filter the whole shop by them.
If you rent, that is the first question you have and usually the last one a furniture site answers. There is one place where we tell you to drill anyway — a tall chest of drawers in a home with small children needs an anti-tip strap, and no freestanding design changes that. We explain why on the renting page rather than quietly leaving it out.
2. We sort by the home, not by the furniture
Nobody living in a studio flat wakes up wanting "a sideboard". They want the wall between the window and the door to do three jobs at once. So the shop is organised by the home you live in first — studio flats, one-beds, flat shares, box rooms, hallways, working from home — and by furniture type second.
It's also why we sell packages: a whole small room specified as one order, in one material, so the pieces match and the proportions work together. A studio flat starter package is cheaper than the same items bought separately, and considerably less work.
3. We publish the measurements that decide it
Width, depth, height, and the smallest cross-section — the number that tells you whether it gets through your door. Our Will It Fit? guide is the most-read page on this site and the one we'd point you at first.
What we make it from
Solid oak, ash and walnut; birch plywood with an honest exposed edge; painted MDF where a flat colour is the point; powder-coated steel for frames; bamboo and rattan-fronted ash where you want warmth without weight. The material is in the product title every time, because "wood effect" is a phrase we don't use.
Designed to move
The average private tenancy doesn't last long. A lot of what we sell comes apart — knock-down fittings that undo and re-tighten rather than glued joints that assemble once — and the modular storage is built in 800mm modules so a wall that suited one flat becomes two shorter runs in the next. We sell spare fittings kits too, because one lost cam lock is what usually ends a flat-pack unit's life.

What we'd rather you did
Ask before you order. Send us the room, the route and the problem, and we will tell you what we'd put in it — including when the answer is "nothing we sell, try a different shape". We would much rather answer a question than process a return, and a piece of furniture that has to go back down three flights of stairs is nobody's good day.
