Room Dividers and Screens
Folding screens, open-shelf dividers, rattan and acoustic panels, tension-pole curtain rails and sliding panels on a tension frame. The way you get two rooms out of one without building anything.
Which to choose depends on what you want to stop. A folding screen blocks sight and nothing else, and it moves. An open-shelf divider gives you storage and keeps light through. An acoustic panel takes the edge off a video call in a shared flat, though nothing freestanding makes a room soundproof and we won't pretend otherwise.
Tension poles need a solid floor and a solid ceiling. Under a suspended plasterboard ceiling they will not hold, and that is the one installation we get asked about most.
