Compact Living System Loft Bed and Working Space System in Birch Plywood
a raised sleeping platform over a desk and storage, in 800mm modules, for a room with at least 2.6 metres of ceiling.
Everything we sell is under 800mm wide. That is not a style, it is the constraint the whole range is designed around, because it is the measurement that decides whether a piece of furniture works in a small flat. Eight hundred millimetres is roughly the width of a standard internal door, the width of the gap most people have between a sofa and a wall, and the point past which a piece stops reading as part of the room and starts reading as an obstacle. Designing to it is harder than designing without it and it is the only interesting thing about furniture for small spaces.

What you get
- Every module, flat packed
- Connecting bolts, dowels and levelling feet
- The bed platform and slatted base
- Anti tip straps and felt pads
- One hex key, one spanner and a layout drawing
Assembly
Flat packed and best done by two people, mostly for the moment you stand it up. About an hour with a hex key and a spanner, both in the box. Fittings are cam locks and threaded steel inserts, so it comes apart and goes back together properly rather than chewing out the panel.
If you are renting
This one does need a wall fixing, and we would rather say so on the product page than in the instructions. It is two screws. If drilling is out of the question, the freestanding version of this piece is listed alongside it and does the same job with a slightly larger footprint.
