Solid Ash
Paler and straighter-grained than oak, with a more even colour across a batch — which makes it the easier solid timber to match across several pieces.
Ash is tough and takes a clean edge, so it holds a sharp arris and survives being knocked in a narrow hallway better than softer timbers. It's the choice when you want visible timber without oak's figure competing with a small room.
It yellows slightly with light over the years. That's the material, not a fault, and it happens evenly.
